Director's Message
Thank you for your interest in the Center for Molecular Cardiology (CMC) at the Feinberg Cardiovascular & Renal Research Institute (FCVRRI). Over the past decade, Northwestern has seen an extraordinary growth in its research enterprise. Cardiovascular research has and continues to be one of the major areas of concentration at Northwestern. We have witnessed a rapid growth in the scientific knowledge in cardiovascular disease in the past few years, and this has created exceptional opportunities for innovative research directions that can potentially lead to better treatment for this deadly disease.
The goal of the CMC is to develop one of the top cardiovascular programs in the country. Our highly accomplished and talented faculty and the well-structured and effective training program for our students and fellows makes CMC a unique research enterprise and a distinguished research program among its peers around the country. It is the goal of our research enterprise that our basic science and translational studies will open new avenues for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
Although our faculty focus on various scientific areas within cardiovascular disease, there are certain fields that are highlighted. These include: atrial fibrillation, cardiac metabolism, cardiac regeneration, cardiac senescence and aging, cardiac imaging, calcium transients, mitochondrial research, inflammation and cellular signaling.
We look forward to hearing from interested applicants to join our exciting and highly innovative research program and learn more about the cutting-edge research that is going on at our center.
